Freeways or Autobahns are perfect grounds for military aircraft to take off and land in times of emergency. For that the road must be strong enough to support aircraft's weight and must not have crazy swivels to hinder aircraft's straight path needed to execute landings and take offs. Airforces of countries with such roads often practice these operations to ensure they are ready to perform quick missions away from their main bases.
