The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23, known by NATO as “Flogger,” is a Soviet fighter jet introduced in the late 1960s to replace earlier aircraft like the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21. It features variable-sweep wings, allowing the pilot to change the wing angle for better performance at both low and high speeds. The MiG-23 was designed mainly for interception and ground attack, making it faster, more heavily armed, and equipped with better radar than many earlier Soviet fighters.
